Description Insignia<br />

Cutterman<br />

A gold-toned (officers) or pewter-toned (enlisted)<br />

insignia with a shield on a five-pointed star<br />

superimposed on a ship’s wheel centered over stylized<br />

waves.<br />

Enlisted members eligible to wear the permanent<br />

Cutterman insignia who are subsequently<br />

commissioned (including chief warrant officers) must<br />

refer to the Cutter Training and Qualification Manual,<br />

COMDTINST M3502.4 (series) to determine which<br />

version of the Cutterman insignia is appropriate for<br />

wear for their individual circumstance.<br />

Naval Surface Warfare (SWO)<br />

A gold-toned (officers) or pewter-toned (enlisted)<br />

insignia with the bow and superstructure of a modern<br />

naval warship on two crossed swords on a background<br />

of ocean swells.<br />

Boat Force Operations<br />

Solid Pewter-Toned Insignia: A pewter-toned insignia<br />

with an eight-point compass rose, over a crossed boat<br />

hook and oar centered over stylized waves.<br />

Solid Pewter and Gold-Toned Insignia (advanced<br />

qualification): The insignia as described above except<br />

that the compass rose is a polished gold color and the<br />

stylized waves and oars are pewter.<br />

Coxswain<br />

A pewter-toned insignia with curled stylized waves and<br />

crossed oars with a compass rose superimposed.
