4.A. Ceremonial Uniforms
Ceremonial uniforms are worn by the Ceremonial Honor Guard, Precision Drill Team,
Unit Color Guard, and the Coast Guard Band only. Ceremonial uniforms are worn as
prescribed by their respective units to create the distinguished appearance desired. The
Ceremonial Honor Guard and the Coast Guard Band receive a one-time cash
supplemental clothing allowance to procure items in addition to the regular required sea
bag items. See the U. S. Coast Guard Pay Manual, COMDTINST M7220.29 (series). All
are also provided organizational clothing items as needed. See Organizational Clothing,
Chapter 4.D. of this Manual.
4.A.1. Ceremonial Honor Guard
The Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard provides Coast Guard representation at
official federal, state, local, and Coast Guard functions. Joint service participation for the
Honor Guard and Color Guard Team is scheduled and directed by Headquarters and the
Military District of Washington. Performances include full honors arrival ceremonies for
visiting foreign dignitaries at the White House and Pentagon, firing parties, marching
platoons, and wreath laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, state funerals
for high ranking officials, Joint Services Color Details and Coast Guard funerals
throughout the Washington DC area. The Full Dress Ceremonial uniform will be worn on
the following occasions:
a. All ceremonies at the White House, Pentagon, and Arlington National
Cemetery.
b. All full honor arrivals and departure ceremonies.
c. All state funerals and all Coast Guard funerals.
d. All Joint Service Color Details.
e. Any other ceremony, as directed by the Military District of Washington.
f. Any other ceremony as directed by the Commanding Officer, Coast Guard
Telecommunication and Information Systems Command (TISCOM).
