COMDTINST M1020.6G 6.G. Uniform Appearance Problems Poor uniform appearance is a matter of concern to all Coast Guard personnel. Poor uniform appearance reflects badly on individuals, their commands, and the Coast Guard. This chapter illustrates many of the commonly observed uniform appearance problems. It also explains the probable cause of the problem and provides the suggested corrective action to be taken. 6.G.1. Trousers The horizontal wrinkles at the waist and the tightness in the crotch area indicate that these garments are too small. This problem can also be detected by observing "bulging" side-pockets, horizontal wrinkles across the top of the rear of the garments, and tightness in the seat of the garments. These individuals should be fitted with a larger garment. 6-48
6.G.2. Trouser Hem 6-49 COMDINST M1020.6G The trousers shown on the left are too short; the trousers shown on the right are too long. Either situation presents an unsightly appearance. 6.G.3. Skirt These garments need an alteration of the trouser hem to the proper length. The horizontal wrinkles in the front of this skirt and the open front pleat indicate that this garment is too small. This problem can also be detected by observing horizontal wrinkles in the hip area. This individual should be fitted with a larger garment.
