e. Navy Occupations Service Ribbon: The black stripe will be to the wearer’s<br />

right.<br />

f. Merchant Marine Combat Bar: The light blue stripe will be uppermost.<br />

g. Philippine Defense Ribbon: The stars will form a triangle base down.<br />

h. Philippine Liberation Ribbon: The blue stripe in the center will be to the<br />

wearer’s right.<br />

i. Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon: The blue stripe will be<br />

to the wearer’s right, worn with gold frame.<br />

j. Korean Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon: The red portion of the circular<br />

device in the center will be the uppermost worn with gold frame.<br />

k. Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal: The blue stripe in the center will be to<br />

the wearer’s right.<br />

l. Combat Action Ribbon: The outermost blue stripe will be to the wearer’s right.<br />

m. 911 Ribbon and Medal: The outermost red stripe will be to the wearer’s right.<br />

n. All Unit citations or awards with gold frames: Wear the leaf design on the left<br />

and right sides in the upright V position.<br />

3.G.4. MARKSMANSHIP AWARDS AND ATTACHMENTS<br />

Criteria for authorized marksmanship awards are listed in the Ordnance Manual,<br />

COMDTINST M8000.2 (series).<br />

Eligibility: Expert medals and marksmanship ribbons shall be awarded for achieving the<br />

specified scores over the prescribed courses of fire contains in COMDTINST M8000.2<br />

(series). In addition, expert medals may be awarded and marksmanship ribbon bars<br />

authorized if the qualifying score is attained during a match in which Excellence in<br />

Competition Badges may be earned.<br />

The Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon is authorized for each <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> person who qualifies<br />

as marksman or better with the service rifle.<br />

a. A silver “E” shall be attached to the ribbon for expert qualification. A medal<br />

is awarded with the “E” qualification.<br />

b. A silver “S” shall be attached to the ribbon for sharpshooter qualification.
