The following illustrations show the proper wearing of qualification insignia, devices,
and badges. In situations where a member has earned a combination of insignia, devices,
and badges (e.g., two qualification insignia, two command devices, and two badges that
are worn in the same location), resulting in a conflict in placement, wearers should use
their best judgment in determining the appropriate placement.
Basic manner of wear on SDB, Tropical Blue, Winter Dress, and ODU uniforms:
� Nametags are centered ¼ inch above right
pocket.
� Ribbons are centered ¼ inch above left
pocket.
� Insignia are centered ¼ inch above
ribbons.
� If assigned as incumbent CO or OIC,
device is worn centered ¼ inch above
nametag on right pocket.
� Only embroidered permanent insignias,
command devices, incumbent Command
Chiefs, and RFMC badges are authorized
on the ODU.
Right Pocket Left Pocket
Manner of wear for insignia on SDB, Tropical Blue, Winter Dress, and ODU uniforms:
� In all cases, except for the ODU, only two fullsize
insignia may be worn simultaneously. When
wearing two insignia, wear the insignia most
applicable to the current assignment uppermost.
Otherwise, wear the most recently earned
uppermost.
� The uppermost insignia is centered ¼ inch above
the ribbons or pocket. The lower insignia is
centered ¼ inch below the top edge of left pocket
flap.
� Only one embroidered permanent insignia is
worn on the ODU. The insignia should represent
the most applicable qualification. Only the
pocket length tape with full size embroidered
insignia should be sewn centered immediately
above the U. S. Coast Guard tape.
