4.C. Special Program Uniforms<br />
4.C.1. Public Health Service Officers<br />
Public Health Service officers detailed to the <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> will wear the standard <strong>Coast</strong><br />
<strong>Guard</strong> uniforms as described in Chapter 3 with the specific modifications noted below.<br />
Specific USPHS uniform requirements are also listed in Commissioned Corps Personnel<br />
Manual (CCPM) Pamphlet No. 61, “Uniform Handbook.”<br />
Newly attached USPHS officers will receive a one-time organizational issue-in-kind of<br />
additional uniform items from the supporting program element as follows:<br />

Insignia, devices, and striping are not included in the above issue. The cost of these<br />
items must be borne by the individual.<br />
Item Description<br />
Cap Insignia<br />
USPHS will be worn in lieu of the USCG officer’s eagle. On<br />
the combination cap, the insignia is attached to the CG blue<br />
combination cap band specifically designed for the insignia.<br />

Insignia<br />
An embroidered USPHS insignia is worn in place of the <strong>Coast</strong><br />
<strong>Guard</strong> shield on the sleeves.<br />
