3.J.1. FUNERAL PARTICIPANTS<br />

The following are offered as uniform guidelines for military funerals:<br />

a. Escort Commander (Flag Presenter) Full Dress Blue<br />

b. Honor <strong>Guard</strong> Pallbearers Service Dress Blue<br />

c. Honorary Pallbearers Service Dress Blue<br />

Other participants:<br />

d. Flag Presenters Service Dress Blue<br />

e. Firing Party Service Dress Blue<br />

f. Ceremonial Band Service Dress Blue<br />

g. Bugle Player Service Dress Blue<br />

White uniforms are optional in the summer.<br />

Personnel will wear mourning badges at military funerals while serving as honorary<br />

pallbearers or the escort commander. Personnel otherwise attending military or civilian<br />

funerals in uniform may wear mourning badges at their discretion. The badge will be<br />

made of black crepe, three inches wide and sufficiently long to fit around the arm. These<br />

badges are normally furnished by the funeral director at no cost to the individual.<br />

a. Officers will wear the mourning badge on the left sleeve of the outer garment,<br />

halfway between the shoulder and elbow.<br />

b. Enlisted personnel will wear the mourning badge on the right sleeve of the<br />

outer garment, halfway between the shoulder and elbow.
