c. Trousers – Will be the same material and pattern as the coat/shirt. When worn<br />
with combat boots, jungle boots, or combination combat/safety boots, the<br />
trouser legs will be bloused with garters so that the blouse covers the top row<br />
of hooks or eyelets on the boots.<br />
d. Belt and Buckle – 1 ½-inch wide color-matched nylon, or elastic woven web<br />
belt with subdued tip, and black open face buckle. The belt tip will extend two<br />
to four inches from the buckle.<br />
e. Boots – Appropriate boot for color-scheme being worn. Boot laces will be<br />
tucked into the boot and same color as the boot. The boot will have a<br />
composite toe and will comply with the American Society for Testing<br />
Materials (ASTM) document number ASTM-2413-05 (as updated).<br />
Steel-toed boots are not authorized after 31 December 2012.<br />
f. Socks – Olive green, khaki, or black<br />
g. Undershirts – Brown, cotton, quarter-length sleeve with a crew neck collar.<br />
Issued thermal underwear is authorized to be worn underneath the camouflage<br />
uniform during cold weather periods.<br />
h. Cold Weather Coat (Field Jacket) – Will match the color and pattern of the<br />
prescribed CUU.<br />
i. Insignia – Will be embroidered on fabric background that is color-matched to<br />
the CUU color-scheme.<br />
<strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> CUU rank insignia has its own unique size that is larger than the regular CG<br />
collar insignia but smaller than the DOD insignia.<br />
All ranks will be embroidered with black thread except for the rank of ensign and<br />
lieutenant commander which will be embroidered with spice brown thread; W-2 with<br />
spice brown and green thread; and W-3 and W-4 with black and green thread.<br />
Appropriate rank/rate insignias will be worn by all officers, chief petty officers, and petty<br />
officers. The center of insignia will be placed at the point approximately one inch from<br />
the front and lower edges of the collar and vertical axis of the insignia will lie along an<br />
imaginary line bisecting the angle of the collar point. For flag officers, the insignia will<br />
be centered between the top and bottom edge of the collar, with the outer edge of the<br />
insignia approximately one inch from the front edge of the collar with the tone ray of<br />
each star pointing toward the top of the collar.<br />
j. Devices – Incumbent command afloat, command ashore, officer-in-charge<br />
afloat and officer-in-charge ashore embroidered devices are authorized to wear<br />
by eligible personnel.<br />
