3.I. BRASSARDS AND ARMBANDS<br />

<strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> commands are authorized to provide means of identification, such as<br />

brassards, armbands or similar items as appropriate for personnel performing following<br />

official duties:<br />

a. Officer Of the Day.<br />

b. Junior Officer of the Day.<br />

c. Shore Patrol (worn by members of the shore patrol and beach guard while on<br />

duty).<br />

d. Master at Arms.<br />

e. Armed Forces Police (worn by members of an Armed Forces Police<br />

Detachment).<br />

f. Captain of the Port (worn by personnel engaged in port security duties, when<br />

the captain of the port directs).<br />

g. Geneva Convention Red Cross (worn by personnel involved in medical<br />

activities so they may be readily identified for such purposes as emergency<br />

medical response or under combat conditions).<br />
