BRASSARDS AND ARMBANDS Coast Guard commands are authorized to provide means of identification, such as brassards, armbands or similar items as appropriate for personnel performing following official duties: a. Officer Of the Day. b. Junior Officer of the Day. c. Shore Patrol (worn by members of the shore patrol and beach guard while on duty). d. Master at Arms. e. Armed Forces Police (worn by members of an Armed Forces Police Detachment). f. Captain of the Port (worn by personnel engaged in port security duties, when the captain of the port directs). g. Geneva Convention Red Cross (worn by personnel involved in medical activities so they may be readily identified for such purposes as emergency medical response or under combat conditions). 3-110
3.J. Military Funeral Honors 3.J.1. FUNERAL PARTICIPANTS The following are offered as uniform guidelines for military funerals: a. Escort Commander (Flag Presenter) Full Dress Blue b. Honor Guard Pallbearers Service Dress Blue c. Honorary Pallbearers Service Dress Blue Other participants: d. Flag Presenters Service Dress Blue e. Firing Party Service Dress Blue f. Ceremonial Band Service Dress Blue g. Bugle Player Service Dress Blue White uniforms are optional in the summer. 3-111 COMDTINST M1020.6G Personnel will wear mourning badges at military funerals while serving as honorary pallbearers or the escort commander. Personnel otherwise attending military or civilian funerals in uniform may wear mourning badges at their discretion. The badge will be made of black crepe, three inches wide and sufficiently long to fit around the arm. These badges are normally furnished by the funeral director at no cost to the individual. a. Officers will wear the mourning badge on the left sleeve of the outer garment, halfway between the shoulder and elbow. b. Enlisted personnel will wear the mourning badge on the right sleeve of the outer garment, halfway between the shoulder and elbow.
