Area Level Gold Badge Command Master Chief An E-9 rate/ pay grade insignia placed on a gold oval shield above the word “AREA”. Worn by 3 star level CMCs (PACAREA, LANTAREA, DCMS, DCO). Master Chief Petty Officer of the Reserve Force An E-9 rate/pay grade insignia placed on a gold oval shield above the word “MCPO-CGRF”. Gold Badge Command Master Chief An E-9 rate/ pay grade insignia placed on a gold oval shield above the word “COMMAND”. Worn by all Flag/SES CMCs. Rating Force Master Chief An E-9 rate/pay grade insignia placed on a gold oval shield above the letters “RFMC”. Worn by all Rating Force Master Chiefs. Silver Badge Command Master Chief & Senior Chief An E-9 or E-8 rate/ pay grade insignia placed on a silver oval shield above the word “COMMAND”. Worn by those in full-time billeted and screened silver badge positions. 3-84
Collateral Duty Silver Badge An E-7, E-8, or E-9 rate/ pay grade insignia placed on a silver oval shield above the word “UNIT”. Worn by all collateral duty command chiefs, senior chiefs, and master chiefs. 3-85 COMDTINST M1020.6G Full Size gold or silver CMC badges and RFMC identification badges are authorized for wear while serving in that capacity and by those that retired while serving in a gold or silver badge CMC, or a RFMC position. Worn on Full Dress, Service Dress, Winter Dress, Tropical Blue, and ODU uniforms. Females have the option of wearing full size CMC badges and RFMC identification badges above their name tags for the previously authorized uniforms. Miniature incumbent gold or silver CMC badges and RFMC identification badges are worn on the Formal Dress and all Dinner Dress uniforms. The miniature badge is also authorized for post-assignment wear for ALL CMC/CSC/CC and RFMC positions following the completion of a successful tour. The post-assignment miniature badge is worn on, Service Dress, Tropical Blue and Winter Dress uniforms. The badge worn indicates the highest rank and position held when designated. Only one CMC Badge (gold or silver) may be worn at any given time. A currently serving CMC may wear a previously earned RFMC badge and a currently serving RFMC may wear a previously earned CMC badge. No more than two special service or identification badges (current and past) may be worn at the same time.
