The Service Dress Blue coat will be fitted over the light blue long sleeved shirt, and dress<br />

trousers or skirt.<br />

The shirtsleeve cuff must not extend beyond the coat sleeve.<br />

The collar will fit closely around the neck and smoothly at the back.<br />

The coat will fit comfortably across the shoulders. The shoulders will be well balanced. The<br />

shoulder padding should extend approximately 1/2 inch beyond the outer edge of the shoulder<br />

joint. There will be no folds or breaks across the top of the back, just below the collar.<br />

The coat will fit comfortably across the bust. There will be no binding around the armholes<br />

when the arms are moved. The front collar, lapels, and flaps will present a smooth appearance.<br />

There will be sufficient looseness in the coat to permit a pinching of 2-4 inches of material at the<br />

bust.<br />

There will be sufficient looseness in the coat waist to permit a pinching of 2-4 inches of material<br />

at the waist.<br />

The coat front will be smooth and balanced. It will present a vertical appearance. There will be<br />

no gapping, upward pulling, or crisscrossing of the front closure. The horizontal edges of the<br />

front panels will be even. The bottom of the coat front will be parallel to the ground.<br />

The bottom edge of the sleeve will cover the wrist bone by 1 inch with a tolerance of 1/2 inch<br />

plus or minus.<br />

The back of the coat should hang smoothly. There will be no horizontal wrinkles or vertical<br />

"waves".<br />

ALTERATIONS<br />

The shoulder pads may be increased or decreased.<br />

Only the shoulder seams may be taken in.<br />

The collar may be raised or lowered no more than 1/4 inch.<br />

The sleeve length may be increased or decreased.<br />

The side seams should only be taken in or let out after the next smaller or larger size has been<br />

tried on.<br />

The back seams should only be taken in or let out after the next smaller or larger size has been<br />

tried on.<br />

The back may be raised or lowered.
