4.D.5. Special Command Aide<br />

Special Command Aide (SCA) clothing will be as close to <strong>Coast</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> blue clothing<br />

colors as possible, conservative in cut, design, style, and wear. The organization clothing<br />

will complement the work environment while optimizing the SCA’s functionality. Each<br />

representational facility has unique entertainment requirements. The following minimum<br />

requirements are authorized as the initial issue for each SCA.<br />

4 Dark blue/navy “Polo” style shirts<br />

4 White chef’s jackets<br />

4 Black or black and white hounds-tooth checked pattern<br />

4 Black, white, or gray waiter’s serving jacket or vest<br />

4 Black dress slacks<br />

2 Bowties - black or gray<br />

AFC-30 funds may also be used to embroider chef’s jackets and “Polo” style<br />

shirts with “U. S. COAST GUARD” in ¾ inch block style white letters only.<br />

Unit specific embroidery is authorized utilizing extraordinary expense funds<br />

(XXF).<br />

While performing yard work or heavy labor, the Operational Dress Uniform<br />

(ODU) may be worn to extend the wear and service life of organizational<br />

clothing.<br />

The Foul Weather Parka II (FWPII) and a locally procured navy blue fleece<br />

pullover with no visible manufacturers label or markings are approved for<br />

outerwear. No other outer garments are authorized. A black or brown leather belt<br />

is required. While wearing the serving uniform, the service dress leather or high<br />

gloss synthetic shoe is required. When wearing the chef’s jacket and chef’s pants,<br />

leather safety shoes or boots are required. The member will bear the cost of the<br />

belt and shoes.<br />
