Adam Smith was as smart, gracious, decent, and generous as any other
figure in the past millennium. Observing the perversion of his core concepts
would not enrage him; that was an emotion he did not exhibit. It would,
however, deeply, deeply grieve him. Enormous concentrations of income,
while billions of people are left behind in poverty, is exactly the outcome he
sought to avoid.
