April 14 North Korean infiltrators attack a truck in the UNC<br />

headquarters area and kill four security guards. The South<br />

protests the incident on April 15.<br />

April 18 The 266th MAC meeting on the April 14 attack ends in failure.<br />

May 2 At the 269th MAC meeting, the South warns that it would take<br />

protective measures against North Korean intrusions.<br />

May 8 At the 16th round of US-North Korea talks, the North presents<br />

a draft apology on the Pueblo issue to the US.<br />

May 17 At the 270th MAC meeting, the North claims that the UNC had<br />

initiated gunfire on 46 occasions in May in the DMZ and that<br />

three South Koreans spies were arrested on May 6.<br />

July 8 At the 272nd MAC meeting, the South criticizes the North for<br />

rearming. The North blames the South for having brought in<br />

military equipment. The South refers to its cancellation of<br />

Paragraph 13(d) and claims that replaced weapons were only<br />

for defensive purposes.<br />

immediately after the Armistice Agreement was signed.<br />

The South claims that a North Korean intelligence vessel on<br />

August 20 had become disabled during an espionage mission<br />

near Cheju Island.
