The Municipality of Fiordimonte,
characterized by very
scattered settlements all over
the territory, is sited in the upper
valley of the Fornace River;
its origins are pre-Roman.
In fact, in its territory an architrave
with Picene inscription
has been found; now it’s kept
in a public fountain in the
hamlet Taro. The earliest information
about the village,
which has always followed
the historical events of
Camerino, refers to the Middle
Ages.
The remains of well-preserved
medieval walls testify
its importance. Eminent people
of Fiordimonte, together
with those ones of Nemi, Valle
and Castello, forming together
a circle, used to go to Macerata
and Camerino.
WORTH VISITING
Worth visiting is the Church of
St. Maria Assunta, in the hamlet
Nemi, with 14 th century
frescoes by Paolo da Visso and
a painting by Boccati (15 th
century). The Church of St.
Antonio, in the hamlet Castello,
contains a Crucifixion, attributed
to Girolamo di Giovanni.
In the little Church of
St. Marco, in the hamlet Alfi,
you can see a triptych with a
Gothic frame attributed to Nobile
di Francesco da Lucca.
The Church of St. Sebastiano
(15 th century), in the hamlet
Villanova, contains a valuable
polychrome wooden statue.

In the territory of the municipality
you can find the faunalhunting
farm, which covers an
area of about 3,000 hectares,
where you can practice the
hunting activity.
WORTH TASTING
Local specialities are: vincotto
(literally cooked wine),
cheese, “ciauscolo”, honey,
bread, handmade pasta (tagliatelle,
cappelletti, vincisgrassi),
cakes (pasta with walnuts)
and fruits of woods and underbrush
(mushrooms, black truffles,
chestnuts, strawberries,
and so on...)

are available: a soccer field and
a tennis court.

The Municipality of Fiordimonte
is located within the
beautiful territory of the
Camerino Mountain Community
(Comunità Montana di
Camerino) and some hectares
its territory are included in the
Sibillini Mountains National
Park.
