The site occupied nowadays by
Auditore was originally inhabited
by people of Umbrian and
Picene origin, followed by Roman
colonists. Earthenware, amphoras,
oil-lamps, glassware,
floor decorations and fragments
of roof tiles have been found in
several spots in the municipal
territory. In the Middle Ages the
history of Auditore was tightly
connected with Rimini. The fortified
village, leaning on the side
of Mount San Giovanni, was a
feud of the Ridolfi family in the
13 th century together with Castle
of La trappola; The Malatesta
family ruled over the village for a
while, until the Montefeltro family
got it finally back. In the past
the village was composed by
three different fortified built-up
areas: Auditore, San Giovanni
and Castelnuovo: it is still possible
to recognise the different defence
structures, including walls,
towers and bastions.
WORTH VISITING
The impressive ring walls, dating
from the first half of the 15 th
century, including two round
keeps and the octagonal Civic
Tower of 1450 are evidences of
Auditore’s aristocratic past. The
Parish Church, located in the
historic centre of the village contains
a painting representing the
Pentecost, painted by Marino
Medici in 1772. The Gothic Line
Museum, commemorating the
fights, that took place in the hamlet
Casinina after the break
through the Gothic Line in 1944
AUDITORE
during the retreat of the German
troops, is absolutely recommended.

Auditore has been famous for
bronze-founding, especially for
the creation of cannons and bells.
The village has maintained its
character of rural and handicraft
village up to the presence, coexisting
with new-born industrial
and trade activities, though.

The territory offers trekking or
mountain-bike naturalistic routes.
WORTH DISCOVERING
On the hillside of Mount San
Giovanni it is possible to appreciate
the ruins of the Castle of la
Trappola, located amid an unspoiled
landscape, covered with
pinewoods, full of natural caves,
most of which are still unexplored.
Don’t miss visiting the
Ventena Valley: with the almost
completely abandoned settlement
of Castelnuovo and the little
Ventena River, this environment
still retains its original atmosphere.
