Gallo travaille encore une fois à partir <strong>de</strong> photographiques tirées <strong>de</strong> films pour é<strong>la</strong>borer une série <strong>de</strong> photographies qui lui serviront d'affiches promotionnel<strong>les</strong> pour ses <strong>de</strong>ux œuvres <strong>cinéma</strong>tographiques, Buffalo 66 (fig. 126) <strong>et</strong> The Brown Bunn/ 82 (fig. 127). D'ailleurs, une affiche <strong>de</strong> film a selon lui une valeur tout aussi créative en <strong>de</strong>hors du film lui même. Il produit aussi un livre en 1999 (Gallo 1962-1999) dans lequel il présente une série <strong>de</strong> photographies sur le même suj<strong>et</strong>: Vincent Gallo. En fait, tout l'œuvre <strong>de</strong> Gallo, <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> musique à <strong>la</strong> <strong>peinture</strong>, <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> photographie au <strong>cinéma</strong>, constitue une réflexion esthétique par <strong>la</strong>quelle il élève ses expériences personnel<strong>les</strong> à un niveau universel, en s'exprimant sur <strong>les</strong> mêmes thèmes soit <strong>la</strong> solitu<strong>de</strong>, <strong>la</strong> vulnérabilité, <strong>la</strong> tristesse, l'amour <strong>et</strong> l'espoir. Même <strong>les</strong> quelques fois où il se cache <strong>de</strong>rrière <strong>la</strong> caméra, c'est toujours le même leitmotiv. Dans une campagne publicitaire pour le Costume National, ses modè<strong>les</strong> apparaissent comme fragi<strong>les</strong>, seuls <strong>et</strong> tristes. <strong>Le</strong>s photographies sont sobres, minimalistes, teintées d'une lueur sinistre (fig. 128). El<strong>les</strong> sont le produit <strong>de</strong> manipu<strong>la</strong>tions techniques au niveau <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> ltunière, du recadrage, <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> colorimétrie, <strong>et</strong>c.
