3.1.5.2 Buffalo 66 <strong>Le</strong>s principes <strong>de</strong> composition <strong>de</strong> l'image <strong>cinéma</strong>tographique doivent beaucoup à ceux développés par <strong>les</strong> <strong>autres</strong> <strong>arts</strong> visuels. Or, <strong>les</strong> fon<strong>de</strong>ments <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> <strong>peinture</strong> <strong>et</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> photographie invitent Vincent Gallo à se « dégager du mouvement définissant <strong>la</strong> spécificité <strong>cinéma</strong>tographique pour penser une autre forme <strong>de</strong> mouvement, celui re<strong>la</strong>tif à <strong>la</strong> construction interne <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> représentation 194 ». Gallo a donc conçu <strong>et</strong> réalisé <strong>de</strong>s œuvres <strong>cinéma</strong>tographiques qui dialoguent avec d'<strong>autres</strong> <strong>arts</strong> (<strong>peinture</strong> <strong>et</strong> photographie) pour nous perm<strong>et</strong>tre <strong>de</strong> concevoir c<strong>et</strong> autre mouvement. Buffalo 66 195 , le premier film écrit, réalisé <strong>et</strong> interprété par Vincent Gallo, est un drame surréel <strong>et</strong> tragicomique, aux signalements autobiographiques forts, qui m<strong>et</strong> en scène l'histoire d'aliénation, <strong>de</strong> solitu<strong>de</strong> <strong>et</strong> <strong>de</strong> souffrance d'un personnage à <strong>la</strong> recherche d'amour <strong>et</strong> <strong>de</strong> rachat. Une œuvre première faisant preuve d'efficacité visuelle <strong>et</strong> narrative indubitable, <strong>et</strong> qui fascine pour son romantisme banal tout aussi malsain, corrosif, féroce que délicat (un peu comme ses <strong>peinture</strong>s sur fer égratigné ou ses photographies mutilées). Gallo nous propose une œuvre <strong>cinéma</strong>tographique originale <strong>et</strong> personnelle qui recherche l'expérience <strong>de</strong>s différents champs expressifs. Or, pour donner une allure particulière à Buffalo 66, dans lequel chaque cadre, texture, couleur, luminosité, <strong>et</strong>c. semble être influencé par l'art pictural <strong>et</strong> photographique passé <strong>et</strong> présent, Gallo additionne <strong>les</strong> expérimentations - split screen (fig. 135), col<strong>la</strong>ges en f<strong>la</strong>sh-back (fig. 136), numéros musicaux surréalistes (fig. 137-138), natures mortes <strong>et</strong> fins alternatives inspirées <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> photographie <strong>de</strong> mo<strong>de</strong>, (fig. 150, 152), <strong>et</strong>c..
