2.2 <strong>Le</strong> p<strong>la</strong>n-tableau Bien que le mouvement différencie le film du tableau, <strong>la</strong> notion du p<strong>la</strong>n - le découpage dans le temps <strong>et</strong> l'espace - entraîne une comparaison entre le réalisateur <strong>et</strong> le peintre. « La fabrication <strong>de</strong>s p<strong>la</strong>ns serait ce qui rapproche le cinéaste du peintre, le <strong>cinéma</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> <strong>peinture</strong> 122 ». Or, Pascal Bonitzer définit le « p<strong>la</strong>n-tableau I23 » comme un p<strong>la</strong>n <strong>cinéma</strong>tographique qui peut-être pensé, construit, composé comme un tableau, d'où sa valeur p<strong>la</strong>stique très forte. <strong>Le</strong> p<strong>la</strong>n-tableau est une sorte <strong>de</strong> <strong>citation</strong>, <strong>de</strong> mention <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> <strong>peinture</strong> au <strong>cinéma</strong>. On dénombre trois espèces <strong>de</strong> p<strong>la</strong>n-tableau: le p<strong>la</strong>n-tableau comme tableau fictif, comme découverte puis comme <strong>citation</strong>-reconstitution. Si nous définissons bien <strong>les</strong> <strong>de</strong>ux premiers types <strong>de</strong> p<strong>la</strong>n-tableau, nous insisterons surtout sur <strong>la</strong> <strong>citation</strong>-reconstitution qui s'apparente à <strong>la</strong> <strong>citation</strong>-icône <strong>et</strong> à <strong>la</strong> <strong>citation</strong>-métaphore tel<strong>les</strong> que définies par René Payant. 2.2.1 <strong>Le</strong> tableau fictif <strong>Le</strong> tableau fictif est <strong>la</strong> reconstitution réelle ou illustrée d'une œuvre picturale, sans aucune référence directe à <strong>de</strong>s vrais tableaux. Au <strong>cinéma</strong>, <strong>la</strong> spécu<strong>la</strong>tion, le complot, le trompe-l'œil, <strong>et</strong>c. font partie du tableau fictif. L 'hypothèse du tableau volé (1979) <strong>de</strong> Raoul Ruiz nous invite, par exemple, à rechercher le tableau perdu d'un collectionneur érudit à travers <strong>les</strong> <strong>peinture</strong>s fictives d'un peintre fictif du XIX e siècle, Frédéric Tonnerre. Tout au long du film, le mouvement à travers chaque tableau, re-créé en <strong>peinture</strong> ou par <strong>de</strong>s comédiens, est minutieusement examiné <strong>et</strong> re<strong>la</strong>nce <strong>les</strong> interrogations. On nous invite dans un <strong>la</strong>byrinthe <strong>de</strong> spécu<strong>la</strong>tions vraies ou fausses. Dans The Draughtsman's Contract 124 (I982) <strong>de</strong> P<strong>et</strong>er Greenaway (fig. 82-85), on nous montre <strong>de</strong>s <strong>de</strong>ssins que nous pouvons croire véridiques <strong>et</strong> d'époque. Cependant, certains indices le démentent: l'ap<strong>la</strong>t dans <strong>les</strong> <strong>de</strong>ssins réfère au mo<strong>de</strong>rnisme <strong>et</strong> non au c<strong>la</strong>ssicisme; l'exagération dans <strong>la</strong> chevelure n'est pas non plus attribuée aux <strong>arts</strong> du XVW siècle. Nous nous faisons prendre ici par une sorte <strong>de</strong> trompe-l'esprit.
