An dieser Stelle ein Kommentar zu Hexerei und Maya Spiritualität:
„The church told them about witchcraft. For one reason they used
fire. Fire for Christians means hell, for the Mayan means recreation,
rebirth, cleansing. Obviously everything for the Christians in the
Mayan Spirituality was witchcraft an evil. It is very difficult to say
there was brujaria before, one Anthropologist said very right the
church brought the devil to Guatemala. The devil as such doesn’t
exist in Mayan Spirituality. All that exist is creation, is life, is the
cosmos. The fight from the god with the devil has nothing to do with
Mayan Spirituality. Fighting against the evil certainly, but the evil is
part of us it’s not a devil which is making it. It’s all from us created,
we have to suffer for the things that our fathers and grandfathers
did. We don’t like it, but that’s the truth. We don’t need this figure
of the devil. Every time we tell a lie we are create evil. It’s hoped that
we pay for all this till we will leave the world and not left it behind in
the world.“ 36
Hierbei wird deutlich, daß das Konzept von Gut und Böse in der
Maya Spiritualität eine andere Bedeutung hat, als es in unserer
abendländischen Denkweise verwurzelt scheint. Zeremonien und
andere Aktivitäten in der Maya Spiritualität wurden erst mit der
Bekehrung durch christliche Orden, die mit der spanischen
conquista kamen, verteufelt und mit dem Etikett „böse“ versehen.
Nun möchte ich mich aber dem Thema der Berufung zu einem aj
q´ij zuwenden. Die Berufung zum aj q´ij hängt zum Teil von dem Tag
