6.8.8 Alarms and Failsafe Functions<br />
6.8.8.1 Set Up<br />
1. Ensure that the gas pressure for O 2 , N 2 O, and AIR are at 50 ±10 psi.<br />
2. Power ON the AS3000.<br />
3. Perform the Startup Tests per the on-screen instructions. Ensure successful completion.<br />
4. Attach a breathing circuit and breathing bag.<br />
NOTE: For testing purposes always use a reusable breathing<br />
circuit.<br />
5. Attach an adult test lung to the Y-fitting of the breathing circuit.<br />
6. Set the O2 flow to 2 L/min and set the N2O and AIR flow rates to minimum flow.<br />
7. Set the ventilator controls to:<br />
VENTILATOR CONTROLS VENTILATOR SETTINGS<br />
Patient Type Adult<br />
Ventilation Mode CMV<br />
Tidal Volume - VT 600<br />
Breath Rate - freq 8<br />
I:E Ratio - I:E 1:2<br />
Plateau - TP 10<br />
PEEP - PEEP Off<br />
8. Select CMV to begin ventilation.<br />
6.8.8.2 Low FiO 2 Alarm Test<br />
1. Set the low FiO 2 Alarm limit to 50% O 2.<br />
2. Set the AIR flow control valve to 5 L/min.<br />
3. Set the FiO2 flow controller to minimum flow.<br />
4. Verify the following Low FiO2 alarm signals activate, within three ventilation cycles:<br />
Low FiO2 message appears on the screen.<br />
An alarm tone sounds.<br />
5. Set the Low FiO2 alarm limit to 18%.<br />
6. Verify the alarm signals cease.<br />
