e. Set the ventilator controls to:<br />
VENTILATOR CONTROLS VENTILATOR SETTINGS<br />
Patient Type Adult<br />
Ventilation Mode PCV<br />
Target Pressure - PTARGET 20<br />
Breath Rate - freq 8<br />
I:E Ratio - I:E 1:2<br />
PEEP - PEEP Off<br />
Inspiratory Slope - Tslope 0.5<br />
f. Select PCV to begin ventilation.<br />
g. Verify the Peak Pressure reading of the display is ±20%, at least 2 cmH 2 O of the<br />
Peak Pressure measured with the Vent Tester.<br />
h. Verify that the pressure waveform, Tidal Volume, Resp. Rate and minute volume<br />
values appear on the screen.<br />
i. Verify that the PEAK Value reaches 20 ±4 cmH 2 O within five breaths from the start<br />
of ventilation.<br />
21. Verify that the Low Airway Pressure alarm activates.<br />
a. While the ventilator is running disconnect the Inspiratory hose.<br />
b. Verify that the “Low Airway Pressure” and the “APNEA” message appear on the<br />
screen.<br />
c. Reconnect the hose to the Inspiratory port and verify that the alarm is cleared.<br />
22. Verify that the O 2 concentration alarm signals activate.<br />
a. While the ventilator is running, press the ALARM LIMITS key.<br />
b. Set the O 2 Minimum Alarm Limit to a value higher than the current O 2 reading.<br />
c. Verify that the FiO 2 alarm activates indicated by an audio tone is present and that<br />
the alarm message “Low FiO 2 ” appears on the screen within three ventilation cycles.<br />
d. Set the O 2 Minimum Alarm Limit back to a value lower than the current O 2 reading.<br />
e. Verify that the FiO 2 alarm resets.<br />
