information surveillance of production <strong>and</strong> economic statistics of various industrial segments.<br />

The company has produced various reports for client companies concerning the semiconductor<br />

<strong>and</strong> computer industries. These reports <strong>and</strong> data are not available except through direct purchase.<br />

5 COST: Expensive to very expensive.<br />

7 PERTINENCE: If cost was not a factor, the data <strong>and</strong> information that could be provided by<br />

this organization could be of considerable value. The company’s knowledge of data/information<br />

resources, particularly for the U.S. electronics industry, is probably unmatched.<br />

3 CONTENT: This program seeks to assess the toxicity of new chemicals under consideration<br />

for import in the U.S. or manufactured here. Of key concern is preventing pollution before it<br />

occurs. An inventory of chemicals is maintained in the TSCA inventory for companies desiring<br />

to import or manufacture a chemical not listed. The data concerning toxicity of all chemicals in<br />

the TSCA inventory is available for public access <strong>and</strong> review.<br />

5 COST: Free access to all data/information.<br />

6 UPDATE: On-going.<br />

7 PERTINENCE: The TSCA Inventory database can be of considerable value together with the<br />

EPA’s Existing Chemical program to obtain knowledge concerning chemical toxicity for<br />

pollution prevention purposes.<br />

3 CONTENT: This directory contains listings of EPA voluntary, grant, <strong>and</strong> regulatory programs<br />

associated with pollution prevention. Also identified are individual state pollution prevention<br />

programs as well as other federal programs dealing with the subject, as well as listings of<br />
