Piotrków Trybunalski to jedno
z najciekawszych w Polsce
miast o wyjątkowej historycznej
tradycji: od epoki
kamienia, poprzez słowiańską
osadę, średniowieczną
lokację i trybunały koronne,
aż po dzień dzisiejszy.
Miasto zawdzięcza swój rozwój geograficznemu
położeniu oraz korzystnemu
układowi dróg łączących polskie krainy
w czasach piastowskich. W latach 1354–1567
odbywały się tu zjazdy rycerskie oraz zjazdy
#PiotrkówTrybunalski
szlachty polskiej, podczas których wybierano
króla z dynastii Jagiellonów. Miasto było
także świadkiem zjazdów duchowieństwa
oraz hołdów lennych mistrzów Zakonu Krzyżackiego.
Po przeniesieniu Parlamentu do
Warszawy, Piotrków stał się siedzibą Sądu
Najwyższego oraz Trybunału Koronnego.
Piotrkow Trybunalski is one of the most
interesting cities in Poland. Shaped by the
history dating back to the Stone age, through
Slavic Villages and medieval times and the
times of the Crown Tribunal in early modern
period up to these days. The foundation of
the city and its development were connected
with its geographical position and an advan-
tegous arrangement of the roads linking
the provinces of Poland in the Piast times.
Between 1354 and 1567 the city held general
assemblies of Polish knights, and
general or elective meetings of the Polish
Sejm (during which Polish kings of the
Jagiellon dynasty were elected) Piotrków
became part of the Polish–Lithuanian
Commonwealth in 1569. When the seat
of the Parliament was moved to Warsaw,
the town became the seat of the highest
court of Poland, the Royal Tribunal, and
trials were held there from 1578–1793. It
has also witnessed church assemblies
and Grand Masters of the Teutonic Orders’
oaths of liege homage, to name but a few.
