WIELUŃSKIEGO
Drewniane kościoły w okolicy
Wielunia należą do zabytkowych
„typu wieluńskiego”.
Budowane były przez miejscowych
rzemieślników ze
szlachetnego modrzewia,
ale również z drewna jodłowego,
świerku i sosny.
Są to świątynie jednonawowe, na planie
prostokąta lub kwadratu, o konstrukcji zrębowej,
oszalowane. Do nawy przylega zawsze
węższe prezbiterium. Charakterystyczne dla
tego typu budowli są bardzo strome dachy
kryte gontem, z szerokimi okapami. Kościoły
posiadają wieże dzwonne o konstrukcji
słupowej, gdzie znajduje się tzw. babiniec
(kruchta). Szczególnie wartościowe są wnętrza
kościołów wieluńskich, zazwyczaj posiadające
bogate renesansowe i barokowe polichromie,
cenne rzeźby i obrazy o charakterze
ludowym. Najciekawsze kościoły stoją w Grębieniu,
Popowicach, Kadłubie i Gaszynie.
WIELUN TYPE CHURCHES
The wooden churches in the area share
the features typical of the region. They
were all built by local craftsmen, using
high quality European larch, silver fir, Norway
spruce, and pine tree. They were one
nave churches and were based on a rectangular
or square design with Steep roofs
covered with shingle with wide eaves.
These churches are single-nave, based on
rectangle or square plan, of slash construction,
clapboarded. The nave has adjoined
presbytery. Steep roofs with white eaves, covered
with shingle are typical for this type of buildings.
Churches have bell towers of prism construction
where the porch (babiniec) is located.
Interiors of Wielun churches are worth
special consideration due to their Renaissance
and Baroque polychromies, valuable
sculptures and folk paintings.
The most interesting churches are in
Grębien, Popowice, Kadłub and Gaszyn.
