Useof clamps is recommended.COMPRESSION FITTINGSUse Compression or Push Connect Fittings with harder materialslike Polyethylene, Nylon, Polypropylene, Teflon andPVDF tubing. No clamping needed.COMPRESSION FITTING ASSEMBLYSINGLE-BARB vs.MULTI-BARBED FITTINGSSINGLE-BARBSingle-barbed fittings are constructed so that the moldedinparting line stops at the base of the barb. The ridge andconical surface are free of the molded-in leak path, and theconical surface on the single-barbed fitting is smooth andglass-like for excellent sealing. By clamping the relaxedhose behind barb you can force the clamp to work like adrawstring, forcing the hose diameter to become smallerthan the barb flare. If the tubing swells from internal pressure(near burst), the clamp will pull up tight to the back of barband the seal will be maintained. These fittings are perfect forhigher working pressures or more corrosive liquids.* Fittings are not designed for use with clamps in 1/16” through 3/16” tubesizes.Step 1Cut the tube squarely andremove any burrs.Step 2Mark the insertion lengthfrom end of tube. (See table)Step 3Loosen nut on fitting until three threads are visible. Fittingsfor glass tubes must be disassembled and the grab ring removed.Step 4Moisten the tube end with water. Push the tube straight into thefitting until it bottoms on the fitting’s shoulder. Tighten nut byhand. Additional tightening should not be necessary, but 1/4additional turn may be added if desired. Do not overtighten nutas the threads will strip and the fitting will not function properly.Proper assembly will not show the insertion mark extendingbeyond the nut. If the insertion mark is visible, then steps 1thru 4 must be repeated.Step 5When using clear vinyl tubing or urethane tubing, it is necessaryto use a tube support. Disassemble the fitting and placethe nut, grab ring, spacer and tube support, in that order, onthe tube. Locate the grab ring at the insertion mark as shown.Seat the O-Ring in the body, then proceed with Step 4.MULTI-BARBEDMulti-barbed fittings are generally used in low-pressure, noncriticalapplications where hose clamping is not desirable.Multiple barbs increase the amount of surface area in contactwith the tubing, providing leak-free service at low pressureswith mild solutions. Adding additional hose clamps increasesthe working pressure of a leak-free system.Easy to assemble joining systems for soft tubingssuch as Tygon tubing, Herco Clear Vinyl, Polyurethaneand soft rubber hose. Molded from high-density Polyethylene(black) or Nylon (white) for water or hydrocarbons.MULTI-HOSE CUTTERFEATURES• Provides a straight, even, accurate cut.• Tempered Swedish steelblade (one included).• Metal housing.• PVC coated handles.• Cutting tension controlled byspring steel.• Handle lock.080.130.140APPLICATIONS• Cuts plastic or rubber hoseup to 1 1/8” O.DSUBSTITUTE ITEMS• Low-cost tubing cuttersalso available.
