The piecesare laid out, cut, machined, and joined with thesame tools, equipment, and skills employed in themetal-working trades. However, there are specialforming requirements for thermoplastics that arenot encountered in metal work.In order to assure accurate assembly andsuccessful fabrication, a high degree of skill andquality is required in the preparatory work involvedin layout and various machining operations oncomponents for fit-up.Fabrication of thermoplastics covers a wide fieldof operations on sheet, rod, tube and specialshapes when making them into finished products.Fabrication, in its broadest sense, involvescutting, sawing, machining, forming, and joiningor fastening components of the completed object.Machining may include beveling, routing, grinding, turning, milling, drilling, tapping and threading. After the various thermoplastic parts are formedinto proper shape, they may then need to bejoined. The type and method of assembly dependson the function of the finished structure. Severalassembly techniques may be used, includingadhesive bonding, self-tapping screws, threadedinserts, press fitting, snap fitting, cold heading, heat joining (like hot-plate welding, inductionheating, therma-impulse heating, resistance-wirewelding, or hot flaring, spin welding), cementingand hot-gas welding. Each operation requires itsown tools and equipment.ORDER INFORMATION:1538E(Size No.) BOLTARON CLEAR CPVC SHEETSizeNo.Nom. Thick.(in.)
