336 | PRACTITIONERS GUIDE No. 6The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, once it haspublished a report on a friendly settlement or on the merits in whichit has made recommendations, may adopt any follow-up measures itdeems appropriate, such as requesting information from the parties andholding hearings in order to verify compliance with friendly settlementagreements and its recommendations. The Commission will report onprogress in complying with any such agreements and recommendationsas it deems appropriate. 1506The European Committee on Social Rights will require the concernedState to provide information about the implementation of theCommittee of Ministers’ recommendation in the periodic report it submitson the implementation of the Charter. 1507IV. Reporting proceduresInternational reporting mechanisms do not bar the applicants frombringing cases to quasi-judicial or judicial mechanisms. Although theydo not have the capacity to address an individual situation, their usemight be important in light of a case brought under them. This may bebecause reports by these bodies might inform a judicial or quasi-judicialmechanism on the country situation, or because it will be possible tosignal the case to these bodies both to exercise political pressure on thenational authorities and contribute to their analysis of the country situation. This last outcome is particularly significant given that individualcases might take some years to be resolved in an international venue, and that reports on country situations or diplomatic interventions onthe individual case might be quicker, therefore providing useful materialfor the contentious case.1. United Nations Treaty BodiesThe UN Treaty Bodies are those mechanism established by internationalhuman rights treaties, most of which we have considered in the previousparagraphs, because they also have a quasi-judicial procedureto consider individual cases. Each of them also has a procedure underwhich States periodically report on their human rights situation and areexamined by the relevant Committee. These are:• The Human Rights Committee (ICCPR);• The Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination(ICERD);1506 See, Article 48, IACHR Rules of Procedure.1507 Article 10 AP-ESC.
