System of lock off to (but not exit from) the enclosure affected shall also beprovided.The fire protection system shall be segregated into separate zones so that at leastthe protection for any one compartment can be selected to the manual modewhilst, at the same time, retaining the automatic mode for the remainingenclosures.Lock-off boxes shall be provided at all entries to enclosures, with switcheswhereby an operator may inhibit automatic release of extinguishant. These boxesshall be provided with status indicators signifying 'Auto on' 'Auto-off' and'Extinguishing Released' and a red lamp shall also be illuminated at the box In theevent of' extinguishing release. The status shall be indicated at the control panelof the control building also.Fire detection shall be by means of ultra violet flame detectors with a backupsystem utilising rate-of-rise temperature detectors. The use of smoke detectorsshall be subject to specific approval by the Board as regards their type andlocation.Audible and visual fire alarms shall be provided in all machinery en-, closures, thelocal control cabs and in the control room of the control building. Additionalaudible alarms shall also be provided external to the turbine generator enclosures.Particular areas of high fire risk such as confined spaces where lubricating oilcould possibly come into contact with high temperature ,surfaces shall receivespecial consideration. Such areas shall be treated as separate fire protectionzones with detection and C0 2 gas injection facilities operating independently of thesystem provided for the machinery enclosure concerned.The fire protection equipment shall be complete in all respects including pipework,valves, fire detectors, nozzles, control equipment, fully charged C0 2 gas cylindersand cylinder racks.13.4 HYDRANT SYSTEMFire hydrant of water type shall be provided in the power station.13.4.2 HYDRANTHydrants shall be installed at required places around the gas turbine generatingunit, electrical building, and 230 kV switchyard. Each hydrant stand shall be fittedwith an isolating valve and approved type of instantaneous hose complying 30-mhose with combined jet/water-fog nozzle shall be provided in the cabinet adjacentto each hydrant.13.4.2 PIPINGThe fire fighting water mains shall consist of buried piping of at least 120 mmdiameter. The underground pipework shall be provided with an approvedprotective coating unless the pipe is manufactured from an approved noncorrosivematerial.Ghorasal 200 MW to 300 MW Gas Turbine Peaking Power Plant Project (Vol-2 of 3)120
