. The tank shall be of the welded steel plate structure and shall withstandand hold continuously a vacuum of 760 mm Hg.e. The sealed joint part of the tank shall be designed to prevent oil and gasleakage and shall be water light even after long term use, and careful attentionshall be paid to fastening methods of packing of bushing, bursting tube, coolingradiator, connecting pipes and other accessories.d. Looseness of core, yoke, coil and other parts shall not happen duringtransportation and long term use.e. The transformer shall be provided with a bursting tube to discharge thepressure in case of abnormal rise of the inner pressure. The tube shall beequipped with alarm contact. The tube shall be extended up to tile oil pit whichwill be constructed around the transformer.f. No corona shall be discharged inside and outside of the tank under theimposed primary voltage of 230√3 KV x 130%.g. All generated gas and oil flow under fault conditions shall be concentratedto the Buchholz or similar type relay so as to ensure the relay action.h. The transformer shall be provided with skid type base.i. Anti-vibration rubber or the equivalent shall be provided under the base soas to prevent propagation of transformer's vibration to the other Equipment, ifinstalled in the power house.j. Winding of coils shall be designed so as to make the initial potentialdistribution caused by impulsive travelling waves as uniform as possible, to avoidpotential oscillation and to withstand abnormal voltage due to switching.k. The ground terminals of the transformer shall be copper faced steelground pad, and shall be welded on the tank wall near the base. The groundterminal shall be of the bolt fastened type, suitable for 100-200 sq. mm hard orannealed copper stranded conductors.l. In designing the transformers, the Contractor shall refer to the generalarrangement of the transformer and shall consider the location of the lightningarrester.(2) Bushing and Connection230 KV line and neutral bushings of the generator step-up transformer shall be oilfilled nitrogen sealed draw lead type with an oil level gauge, and 15 kV bushingsshall be of the solid type. The creepage distance of bushings of outdoor use transformer except neutralbushing shall not be less than 25 mm / KV of rated phase to phase voltage.(3) Oil Preservation SystemOil immersed transformers shall be provided with an oil preservation system inwhich the insulating oil shall be isolated from atmospheric air. The oil preservationsystem shall be of the diaphragm seal or air seal cell type conservator with silicagelbreather. Oil level gauge with low level alarm contact shall be mounted on theconservator.(4) Cooling systemAn adequate number of unit coolers shall be fixed to the tank of oil immersedtransformers, and the cooling capacity shall be sufficient to operate thetransformer under the rated power. The coolers shall be of such structure that willnot be affected by the vibration of transformer. A valve shall be provided witheach pipe connecting a unit cooler to the tank. Fixing bolts and terminals shall besuch that will never get loosened after being fastened. The power source of thecooling fans shall be 415 V, 3 phase or 240 V, single phase. The fans shallnormally be controlled by its own winding temperature relaying device.(5) Temperature DetectorOne (1) temperature detector shall be installed at the point where the highesttemperature is anticipated.(6) Protective DeviceThe following protection system shall be provided:- Buchholz relay and Pressure Relieve Device (PRD) similar type for alarmand trip- High temperature alarm and trip (winding and oil)A Buchholz relay or oil pressure relay shall be fitted on between the conservatorand the tank. A dial type thermometer with hand resetting maximum indicatorshall be provided. A Pressure Relief Device (PRD) with operation indicator shall beprovided.The gas relay should be provided with double float (one operated by volume ofgas flow and other operated by mass gas flow). It should have followingprovision:a. Gas release valveb. Mechanical test buttonc. Provision for testing both the floats by injecting air from outside.d. Drain cocke. Transport graduated windowf.
