18.5.2 ConcreteThe specifications for concrete works under Section 17 are applicable to buildingworks.18.5.3 Grouting Of Structural Steelwork(1) Materials for GroutingThe aggregate for grouting shall consist of hard siliceous sand, and grained chips,gravel or crushed stone, or other approved inert materials with similarcharacteristics. The materials shall be clean, free from lumps, soft or flakyparticles, shale, crusher dust, silt, alkali, loam, organic matter or other deleterioussubstances. The aggregate shall be of uniform grading and shall be of such a sizethat 100% will pass through a 10 mm mesh and not more than 10% will passthrough a 120 micron mesh. A pre-mixed non-shrink resin grout may he used.The manufacturer's instructions on mixing and the placing of the grout shall beobserved.(2) AdmixturesAn admixture which acts as a non-shrinking agent shall be added to the groutonly with the Board's approval. All proprietary admixtures shall be added andmixed strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.(3) Surface TreatmentConcrete surface which is to be grouted shall be thoroughly cleaned and alllaitance removed from the surface by means of a hammer and chisel. A powerhammer shall not be used.(4) MixingThe Contractor shall submit to the Board for approval details of the mix and themethods he intends to use, prior to the commencement of the grouting.(5) PlacingFor cement based grouts the concrete surface to be grouted shall be thoroughlysaturated with water at least two times before the commencement of grouting.18.5.4 Roofing And Brickwork(1) RoofingRoofing material for administration building shall be of corrugated galvanised ironsheet. The Contractor shall submit samples and technical details of the roofingmaterial for approval of the Board.An insulation layer of glass fibre or rock wool board of minimum 25 mm thick shallbe incorporated in the roofing system.
