Paint for use on concrete or brickwork shall be of a type speciallyprepared for this purpose. Each coat shall be of a distinct colour from thepreceding one and all colours shall be approved by the Board. The planed grain, interlocked grain, fluffin wood shall be ridded with sandpaper and all cracks, manholes open; duct andother imperfection shall be made good with hard stoppings consisting of pastewhite lead and gold size stiffened with whiting. Cracks and holes on the concretesurface shall be flattended with cement paste, mortar, or cement filler.18.6.3 WorkmanshipAll painting and decoration shall be carried out by skilled workmen according tothe best current practice in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.All materials shall be applied by brush unless otherwise specified or approved.Ghorasal 200 MW to 300 MW Gas Turbine Peaking Power Plant Project (Vol-2 of 3)206
18.6.4 PrimingAll joinery, metal works to be painted shall be primed using appropriate andapproved primer before delivery assembly or fixing. No primer is required onsurfaces to be distempered or emulsion painted unless otherwise specified.18.6.5 Number Of CoatsUnless otherwise specified, the required finishes shall consist of the followingtreatments, in addition to preparation, priming etc:-a. Oil painting Three coats on woodworkTwo coats on elsewhere18.6.6 StorageThe Contractor shall furnish an exclusive place for storing the combustible paints.The place for storage shall be fully ventilated.
