17.1.8 PREPARATION OF DESIGN AND DRLKWINGSThe Contractor shall prepare all designs and detailed working drawings asdeemed necessary for the execution and completion of the Works.The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that the design satisfies therequirements of all local and national authorities. Design calculations shall be inaccordance with an approved method and should take into account the mostcritical combination of dead load, wind load, and seismic load. Design calculationsand detailed drawings shall be submitted to the Board for approval. TheContractor may commence construction on the Site only after drawings areapproved by the Board & Engineer.17.2 SCOPE OF CIVIL WORKSThe civil works shall include collection of site data, detailed design, production ofworking drawings, provision of labour, supply of construction plant and materials,construction and rectification of defects during the Warranty Period of the Works.The Scope of Work shall include, but not be necessarily limited to, the following:a) Demolition of existing structures and removal of debris from the site specified.b) Site Works: Site clearance, excavation and filling of the Site to formation level(Site development up to same level of existing power plants) including runningsurplus excavated materials to disposal area, sheet piling work, site roads andsurfacing, water supply, sewage treatment cable ducting, pipe ducting, drainage,landscaping, fencing, boundary wall and gates.c) Foundation: For all plants and structures supplied under this Contract. Suitablefoundations shall be provided for the gas turbine generating unit(s), GBC, 230 kVswitchgears, transformers, elevated water tank, overhead travelling crane,buildings, Oil storage Tank, Fuel oil Handling System, gas generator, equipmentand structures.d) Temporary works as necessary to construct the permanent works. Provision ofsite office for the Engineer and the Project Director including all services,furnishings, and attendance for the period required by the Engineer but notexceeding one month after the final taking-over date.17.3. EARTHWORKS17.3.1 GENERALThe Contractor shall prepare the drawing necessary for his construction purposebased on drawings and the specification, and submit them to the Board forapproval. The Contractor shall be responsible for and shall complete all theearthworks as shown on the approved drawings or as directed by the Board.17.3.2 EXCAVATIONBefore commencing any excavation on the Site, the Contractor shall notify theBoard at least 48 hours before starting any additional surveys.
