days from the receipt of the said notice and the Contractor shall make the saidtests on such day within the said ten(10) days as the Contractor may fix and ofwhich he shall give notice to the Board. If the Contractor fails to make such testswithin the time aforesaid the Board may himself proceed to make the tests. Alltests so made by the Board & the Engineer shall be at the risk an expense of theContractor unless the Contractor shall establish that the tests were not beingunduly delayed in which case tests so made shall be at the risk and expense ofthe Board.(4) The Board except where otherwise specified, shall provide free of charge,such labour, materials, fuel, water, as may be requisite and as may be reasonablydemanded to carry out such tests efficiently. However all the calibration devices,standard or sub-standard special test instruments, stores, apparatus etc., requiredto conduct all the tests would be provided, arranged and installed by theContractor at his own cost and expenses. The Contractor will pay all expenses includingthe custom duties etc. on the import or export of all such instruments etc.(5) If any portion of the works fail to pass the tests, tests of the said portionshall, if required by the Board or by the Contractor, be repeated within areasonable time upon the same terms and conditions save that all reasonableexpenses to which the Board may be put by the repetition of the tests shall bededucted from the Contract price.16.3.2 FIELD INSPECTIONS AND TESTS ON GAS TURBINE UNITSThe following field inspections and tests will be carried out in the sequencedetailed below, and the successful performance and completion of all the teststaken together shall constitute the BOARD's acceptance tests:-(1) Inspection and Checking of UnitsAfter completion of erection and/or installation, and before put into operation,each unit and all its appurtenances (compressor, gas turbine, motors, pumps,heaters, fans, piping, valves and all other mechanical and electrical equipmentand material) shall be thoroughly cleaned and then inspected under thesupervision of the Engineer and in presence of the BOARD's Engineer forcorrectness and completeness of installation and acceptability for placing inoperation. The time consumed in the inspection and checking of the units shall beconsidered as a part of the erection and installation period.(2) Start-up and Trial OperationFollowing the satisfactory completion of the inspections and checking of gasturbine units, the same will be placed in trial operation during which all necessaryadjustments, repairs etc. shall be made as required, then the unit being shutdown as required. When the equipment is operating properly its characteristicsshall be recorded on the start-up report sheets. Start-up reports for all theequipment must be completed before the start of the initial commercial operationperiod.The time consumed in start-up and trial operation shall be considered as a part ofthe erection and installation period.Ghorasal 200 MW to 300 MW Gas Turbine Peaking Power Plant Project (Vol-2 of 3)146
