And when I find out who threw it over the hedge in the first place there will be big trouble!’ Farmer Bagwash picked up the ladder. ‘Mrs Whistle-White. I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Berwooomph! This is my bloomin’ ladder which someone stole from my farm yesterday. I'll take it home now if you don't mind and see if I can get to the bottom of the mystery!’ Sophie was round at Hawthorne Cottage helping Cressida pack all her books into a large box. ‘Only a week before we move,’ sighed Cressie. ‘It just won't be the same without you,’ added Sophie, sighing even more loudly. ‘But at least you're not moving until the day after we've done the play.’ ‘But that makes it even worse. I can't wait for the play to hurry up but I'm also dreading the next day and moving. I don't know whether I want the time to go quickly or slowly. Even worse, because we're moving just before Christmas we can't even decorate here. Usually by now we have the Christmas tree up with its pretty lights and tinsel everywhere.
