With thumping hearts the girls went up to the
lighting floor. Sophie shone her torch at King Arthur
who was sitting happily with his white sheet tucked
around him and then up to the beam where there was
a large bag of flour perched precariously.
‘All ready for action?’ she whispered to Cress. ‘Let's
crouch down here and see what happens.’
For five minutes they waited in silence in the pitch
black. The sound of sharp tap of wood on wood
made them jump. It came from the other side of
The Forbidden Door! Then came the sound of
footsteps climbing up a ladder. Seconds later and very,
very slowly, with a soft, creaking noise The Forbidden
Door swung open. A shadowy figure paused briefly,
then entered and from its outline the girls could make
out that it was beckoning to someone below. A second
figure emerged and stepped in through
The Forbidden Door.
‘All clear,’ whispered the first figure in a voice that
seemed strangely familiar. 'There's no-one here yet.’
‘Are you sure?’ said the second figure.
‘Sure as sure!’ said the first. ‘Now remember our
plan. When the audience are sitting down and the
