Stage Fright!

The cottage did look forlorn.
‘Cressie,’ cried Sophie looking out of the window.
‘Your dad’s carrying a pink dog!’
‘Ghosts - now pink dogs! I don't believe you!’
But Sophie was right. The girls rushed down to see
what had happened to the poor sheepdog.
Tim was talking softly to Lollipop the whole time.
It took a long time to wash the sticky paint off but at
last Lollipop was back to her black and white fur.
‘Poor Lolly,’ said Tim ‘She's had quite a shock but
she looks happy enough now. And all because Farmer
Bagwash thought I'd stolen his ladder!’
Sophie and Cressida gasped in amazement.
A stolen ladder!
Could that possibly be the ladder that the ghosts
had used last night?
‘Why did he think you had stolen the ladder,
daddy?’ asked Cressida shocked that anyone could
think such a thing.
Tim explained how Mrs Whistle-White had found
the ladder in her garden that morning and suggested
he used it while he was painting her house.
‘Mr Stack,’ said Sophie. ‘Would you like us to take
Lollipop back to Farmer Bagwash for you?’
'That's very kind of you. Thank you. It'll let me get
on with some packing. We'll be very sorry to leave this
