Sophie stomped upstairs and into her bedroom
with Susannah-Sue trailing behind her. Cressida, who
had been putting handwritten notices about the DDC
out on the chairs, looked surprised when she saw the
little girl with Sophie - and nobody else!
‘Where is everyone Sophie? Hello Susannah-Sue.
Are you lost?’
‘Not lost. She's come to join the DDC,’ interjected
Sophie.
Cressida was surprised but had practised what she
was going to say to new members so thought she
might as well test it out on Susannah-Sue.
‘Welcome to the Daisy Drama Club, Susannah-
Sue. First of all, do you have any infectious diseases?’
Cressida had a great and grim aunt who had
returned from the exotic tropics with a horrid disease
that made her neck grow excessively long and her
nails turn into viciously sharp talons. The disease was
very infectious so Cressie knew all about the dangers
of this sort of thing and that, like the great and grim
aunt, they were best avoided. Susannah-Sue did not
understand the question so Cressie hoped for the best
and went on.
‘We hope you will be very happy and learn lots
about drama and dance and acting. Now would you
like to fill out one of our membership forms?’
