‘If those so called ghosts come tomorrow night and<br />
try and ruin our play we'll be ready for them and give<br />
them a nasty fright!’ said Sophie. ‘Help me get Arthur<br />
upstairs onto the lighting floor.’<br />
With great difficulty the girls carried King Arthur<br />
up the rickety staircase and set him down on a chair.<br />
‘Now let's tie this rope around his waist and then<br />
throw the other end over that wooden beam up there.<br />
Can you catch the other end, Cress?’<br />
‘Got it!’<br />
‘Great! I'm just going to get something from<br />
the kitchen.’<br />
In a few seconds Sophie was back with a bag of<br />
flour and an old white sheet.<br />
‘Could you go over to The Forbidden Door Cress<br />
and shut your eyes. Don't open them until I say so.’<br />
Cressida did as her friend asked. After a few<br />
minutes Sophie switched off the house lights.<br />
‘Open your eyes now Cress!’<br />
Cressie opened her eyes. To begin with she saw<br />
nothing. It was completely dark and silent save the<br />
howling of the wind outside and the relentless<br />
drumming of the rain on the barn roof. Eventually<br />
she became aware of a faint green light growing<br />
stronger and out of the gloom she could see a<br />
mysterious, ghostly figure. With a terrifying howl the<br />
