run out crying. They'll make real fools of themselves
and it'll ruin their show.’
‘But it'll be worth it for the laugh!’ added the
second figure.
‘Sssssh! What's that?’
‘Someone's coming up the ladder!’
The two figures froze in horror. Sophie and
Cressida could not believe their eyes when they saw
another figure coming through The Forbidden Door.
Could this be a real ghost?
A huge, monstrous outline filled the whole
opening. It was grunting like a wild beast! As it
stepped through the door Sophie in her fright decided
this was the moment for action.
‘Now!’ she hissed to Cressie.
Trembling Cressida turned on the dim green light.
In the same instant Sophie pulled as hard as she could
on the rope. The King Arthur ‘ghost’ leapt from his
seat and flew dramatically across the room, and went
sweeping up - ‘BANG!’, ‘CRASH!’ - hitting the
beam.
A great cloud of white flour dust shot into the air
as the white apparition completed it's flight by diving
to the ground knocking over the two smaller figures,
