Stage Fright!

The girls found Farmer Bagwash up the ladder.
‘Lollipop! You've bought Lollipop back,’ cried
Farmer Bagwash in delight when he saw his
sheepdog. ‘Who's a good girl then! Who's a good girl
then!’ he said patting the excited Lollipop. ‘Your dad
is bloomin’ marvellous with animals, young Cressida.
Should have seen the way he calmed poor Lollipop
down when she got covered in that ghastly pink paint.
Bloomin’ marvellous it was. You don’t often find
chaps with those sort of skills around these days.’
‘And he won't be around for much longer, Farmer
Bagwash,’ added Sophie.
‘And why's that?’ asked Farmer Bagwash, still
making a fuss of Lollipop and only half listening.
‘Because he's got to move out of Hawthorne
Cottage on Saturday. And all his family. They're going
to Ditch. But you know all about that, Farmer
Bagwash, it being your cottage.’
Cressida looked horrified at Sophie's frank talking.
Abby, who had known nothing about it until that
moment was shocked.
‘But why have they got to move? Cressie is one of
my best friends and we need her to run the DDC!’
Farmer Bagwash was flustered.
‘I... I.... Berwooomph! Now look here! Children
shouldn’t interfere with adult business. And business
