Stage Fright!

He switched off the normal lights and waited a few
moments. It was pitch black in the barn. Sophie,
Cressida, John, mum and dad all waited in silence
wondering what was about to happen. Nobody said
a word. Slowly they noticed a very faint green light
shining eerily onto King Arthur's face. It made him
look real and ghostly at the same time. The light got
stronger. Then it became mixed with red and blue
until the whole stage area was bright with colour.
Then the colours all faded away. It was dark again.
Nobody spoke. Somebody started clapping at the
back of the barn. Uncle Max switched on the normal
lights - or house lights as he called them - and there
was Cressida's mum, Polly.
‘Bravo,’ she said smiling. ‘I can see this is going to
be a real theatre!’
‘I didn’t know you were here,’ said Cressida
pleased but surprised to see her mother.
‘It was getting dark so I came up to walk you home.
