Stage Fright!

Farmer Bagwash stormed off down the staircase.
‘The play!’ shrieked Sophie. ‘We can’t be late for
curtain up! Rosalie, Elsa, you'd better come over to
the house with us and get cleaned up.’
The two big girls, still sobbing, followed Sophie
and Cressida out of the barn, across the yard and into
The Old Farmhouse. Lou, who had just put on her
spirit outfit, looked shocked when she saw her sister.
‘Elsa! What are you doing here? And why are you
covered in all that white stuff. You look as if you've
seen a ghost! What's been going on?’
‘It's a long story, Lou,’ replied Sophie before Elsa
could say anything. ‘Put it this way – we will not be
having any more visits from real ghosts!’
Sophie showed Elsa and Rosalie the bathroom
where they did their best to get rid of the flour.
‘I'm really sorry,’ said Elsa in a quiet voice.
‘So am I,’ added Rosalie.
‘We didn't really mean to be so horrid,’ went on
Elsa. ‘It's just that I thought the DDC was a brilliant
idea and I wish I'd thought of it. I was just jealous. I
realise how horrid I've been now. I'm sorry. Anyway
I’ll never be able to do anything fun like set up a DDC
because I'll be in prison instead!’
And with that Elsa burst out crying.
Sophie felt very sorry for her.
