Stage Fright!

Susie went as pink as the shoes in her
embarrassment.
‘Wow ...’ said Hen, uncertainly.
‘Brill ...’ said Harry, even more uncertainly.
‘Perhaps,’ said Lou tactfully, ‘some of the things
that might not be ideal for a raffle could be wonderful
contributions to our DDC costume wardrobe?’
‘Leaping liquorice! Great idea!’ said Hen trying on
the purple ostrich hat.
‘How do I look?’ said Harry stumbling round in
the pink stiletto heels. ‘Super glam?’
Susie giggled and looked relieved. It was
pretty difficult sometimes having a mother like
Mrs Theodora Whistle-White.
‘Time to get on with the rehearsal. Let's start with
act two, scene one,’ said Sophie. ‘This is where
Scrooge has just gone to bed and the Ghost of
Christmas Past comes to visit him. We'll go on from
there right through to the end if we have time.
Everyone backstage.’
Backstage was behind some black material that
Sophie's mum and dad had helped the girls hang up
behind the stage. The stage was already in place and
altogether it was beginning to look like a great little
theatre. The only trouble was that it was pitch
black backstage.
