Stage Fright!

come back,’ she cried.
‘So am I,’ admitted Lou.
After that everyone was jittery and Beaky was kept
busy prompting nearly every line. Nobody could
remember anything!
‘These ghosts are causing trouble even though they
are only here in spirit!’ said Sophie, which made
everyone laugh, if a little nervously.
At last they got to the final scene. It had been a
messy, chaotic performance.
‘They do say,’ said Cressida as they practised the
bow for a second time, ‘that a bad dress rehearsal
means a good performance!’
‘In that case,’ said Beaky cheering up and tapping
her nose, ‘it should be a wonderful performance!’
The next day in the playground Abby Bagwash, her
hair wild and Bertie sticking out of her shirt pocket,
rushed up to Sophie and Cressida.
‘You'll never guess what,’ she said breathlessly,
‘it's daddy's ladder. It's gone missing again!’
Sophie and Cressida looked at Abby in
amazement.
Abby, who seemed very anxious, went on. ‘And
that's not all, is it Bertie! My dad's really mad. He's
