smiled at Beaky gratefully and tapped her own little
nose in reply.
‘Who is Mistletoe?’ asked Abby curiously.
‘Mistletoe is head of the spirits. It was grandpa’s
idea. They are Jacob Marley's helpers. They are not
actually in the book but he thought it would be fun if
we had a spirit chorus. It's a sort of alternative to all
the ghosts that are actually flying around in the book,’
explained Beaky. ‘We’ve called them Christmassy
names like ‘Roastchestnut’ and ‘Plumpud’!’
‘Let's try it out!’ said Cressida. ‘Everyone can be a
spirit for now. Look this is how the chorus goes on
page six.’
Everyone turned to page six of the script.
‘Let's stand in a row and read it out.’
The girls stood in a line and this is what they read:
We are spirits, ghosts and ghouls.
We float on your whispers,
fly on laughs ...
