Ich bastelte mir meine Bolex zurecht, um ungefähr
eine Aufnahme pro Sekunde zu machen
und als der Wetteransager heftigen
Schneefall voraussagte, stellte ich die Kamera
an ein Fenster mit einem alten Filmprojektor
auf der Außenseite, startete die
Zeitrafferaufnahmen und ging zu Bett. Als
ich mir den Film nach der Umkehrentwicklung
anschaute, bemerkte ich, dass etwas
fehlte, aber was? Der Film schien die Frage
zu stellen - wie lange werden wir uns das
noch anschauen? Und somit beantwortete
ich diese Frage mit einer gleitenden Skala
zur Zeitorientierung unter dem Bild, die die
Antwort für das Duration Reckoning Problem
(Problem der Zeiteinschätzung) lieferte.
Zwei andere Filme von mir, Eleven Different
Horses und Sixty Suicide Notes beinhalten
auch eine ähnliches DRP Zeitmessgerät.
I had rigged up my Bolex to shoot about one
frame a second and when the weatherman
predicted a massive snowfall, I set up the
camera by a window with an old film projector
outside, started the time-lapse shooting,
and went to bed. Upon looking at the film after
reversal processing, I felt that something
was lacking, but what? The film seemed to
ask the question - just how long are we going
to look at this? And so, I then answered this
question with a sliding scale below the image
which provided the answer to the Duration
Reckoning Problem. Two other films of
mine, Eleven Different Horses and Sixty Suicide
Notes have also included a similar time
measurement DRP device.
