Der neue Kurzfilm von Nicolas Provost besteht zur Gänze aus Archivmaterial, das im Allgemeinen schlicht zur
Illustration eingesetzt wird. Provost will zeigen, dass es auch ästhetischen filmischen Wert haben und eine Geschichte
erzählen kann. Der Film beginnt mit einem Dialog im Off zwischen einem jungen Paar, das zu einem romantischen
Abenteuer aufbrechen will. Provost erzählt die Geschichte der beiden allein durch Archivmaterial,
indem er Außenaufnahmen einer Boeing zeigt, die auf einen Sonnenuntergang zufliegt.
The new short fiction film by Nicolas Provost is made completely out of stock footage. This is normally used as
illustrative material in a very sober way. Provost wants to show that stock footage can have an aesthetic and
cinematic value and that it can tell a story. The film starts with an off-screen dialog between a young couple,
ready to embark on a romantic adventure. What happens next? Provost tells their story using nothing but stock
footage exterior shots of a Boeing plane flying towards a sunset.
Nicolas Provost born in Belgium in 1969, is a filmmaker and visual artist living and working in Brussels, Belgium.
His work has been broadcasted, screened and exhibited worldwide on visual art platforms and at film festivals
and has earned a long list of accolades at prestigious festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival, San Francisco,
Cinevegas, Rotterdam, Vienna and Locarno. His work is a reflection on the grammar of cinema and the relation
between visual art and the cinematic experience. It intends to walk on the fine line between dualities and
balances between the grotesque and the moving, beauty and cruelty, the emotional and the intellectual
