TRIBAND
Triband erweitert die Bildleinwand im
wahrsten Sinne des Wortes bis in die Köpfe
der Zuschauer, da das wahrgenommene Bild
im eigentlichen animierten Filmmaterial
nicht vorhanden ist. Zahlreiche verschiedene
Objekte und Szenen erscheinen gleichzeitig
in einer verschwommenen Wahrheit, wie
eine ferne Erinnerung, in der Ungewissheit
die Wahrheit des Betrachters durchdringt.
Triband expands the projection screen literally
into the viewers’ heads, as the perceived
image is not present in the actual animated
footage. Multiple instances of objects and
scenes appear simultaneously in a blur of
truth, like a distant memory, where uncertainty
permeates the verity of the beholder.
Sebastian Buerkner, *1975 in Berlin. He
studied Painting in Germany then moved to
London to complete his fine art education
with an MA at Chelsea College of Art & Design
in 2002, where he was awarded a Fellowship
Residency the following year. His work has
been exhibited in several group and solo
shows internationally. Since 2004 his art
practice has shifted exclusively to animation.
Solo exhibitions have included Lounge
Gallery, Whitechapel Project Space, The
Showroom, Tramway Glasgow and Sketch.

PULNOC (MIDNIGHT)
Diese wahrlich bemerkenswerte Untersuchung der sozialen und
psychologischen Auswirkungen von Licht und Dunkelheit taucht
in eine Welt der ›Darker‹ ein, wirft einen Blick auf die Energiekrise
und präsentiert das Videotagebuch des Regisseurs über
ein Leben in Dunkelheit. In einem fragmentarischen Helldunkel-
Mosaik kommen und gehen Formen und Situationen wie Gedanken,
die durch den ruhigen Geist eines Beobachters des
nächtlichen Himmels fliegt. Dunkelheit ist sowohl das Thema
als auch der stilistische Ausgangspunkt einer filmischen Betrachtung
der angeblichen Vorteile einer modernen, viel zu beleuchteten
Zivilisation, in der die Menschen verdammt sind,
sich zwischen allgegenwärtigen Lampen zu bewegen ... ein Dokumentarfilm
über verschieden Arten von Finsternis.
This visually remarkable exploration of the social and psychological
implications of light and darkness enters the world of
›darkers,‹ looks at the energy crisis, and presents the director's
video journal of life in darkness. In a fragmentary chiaroscuro
mosaic, shapes and situations come and go like thoughts flowing
through the tranquil mind of a night sky observer. Darkness
is both the theme and the stylistic point of departure of a filmic
reflection on the supposed benefits of modern, far too illuminated
civilization in which people are doomed to wander among
ubiquitous lamps... a documentary about different kinds of
eclipse.
Klara Tasovská, 1980 in Trebíc, graduated from the New Media
Department at the Academy of Fine Arts, and is currently studying
at the Documentary Department of FAMU. She won a special
jury award at the 2010 Jihlava IDFF for Pulnoc (Midnight).
