MY FILM FESTIVAL ENTRY
Neil Needleman
Die Welt ist zu kompliziert geworden. Ich suche
jetzt Erleichterung in den einfachen und
klaren Dingen. Wie dieser Dokumentarfilm.
The world has become too complicated. I
now seek salvation in simple and pure
things. Like this documentary.
Neil Ira Needleman, * 1957 in Brooklyn, NY,
where he learned filmmaking on the streets.
He makes simple movies.
Needleman has extensive professional experience
as an Associate Creative
Director/Copywriter in general advertising,
direct response, B2B, sales promotions and
corporate communications. My work encompasses
TV, print, Web, radio, newsletters, dimensional
sales kits and an array of direct
mail vehicles. Many of my assignments have
required me to climb a steep learning curve
and to master new vocabulary to address the
specific requirements of my clients and to
more effectively communicate with the target
audience. As a result, I am proficient in developing
impactful creative for a wide range of
audiences.
HORIZONTAL INTIMACY
Seoungho Cho
Filmed in the chilly, indeterminate locale of airport terminals
from around the world, Cho's surreptitious footage of travellers
biding their time captures the ominous quietude unique to that
space. A set of red orbs seem to stare back, eerily calling to
mind the red eye of HAL from Kubrick's 2001. Perhaps these
›eyes‹ match the artist's role as an outsider looking coolly upon
an unfamiliar world, longing for a communion that will always
be disappointed in such a transient realm.
Seoungho Cho, *1959 in Pusan, South Korea. He received his
M.A. from New York University. Cho's one-person exhibitions
have included The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Montevideo,
Amsterdam; the Contemporary Art Museum, Honolulu;
Samsung LeeUm Museum of Modern Art, Seoul; Millennium, New
York; and the Cinematheque, Toronto.
